Ayodhya, situated on the southern banks of the sacred Saryu river in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the seven sacred cities of Hinduism. Known as the birthplace of Lord Rama, the city carries an aura of profound spirituality and ancient heritage that has drawn pilgrims and seekers for thousands of years.
The consecration of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in January 2024 marked a historic moment in India's cultural and religious landscape, transforming Ayodhya into one of the most visited pilgrimage destinations in the country. The city now gleams with new infrastructure while preserving its timeless spiritual essence.
Walking through Ayodhya's ancient lanes, one encounters centuries of devotion etched in stone - from the golden spires of Kanak Bhawan to the tranquil ghats where pilgrims take holy dips at dawn. Ayodhya Dham Junction is well connected to Lucknow (2 hrs), Varanasi (4 hrs), Delhi (7 hrs) and Gorakhpur (3 hrs). Multiple express and superfast trains run daily.
Ayodhya is connected via National Highway 27. Lucknow to Ayodhya is ~135 km (2-3 hrs). Varanasi to Ayodhya is ~200 km (4 hrs). Buses and private cabs are readily available.
Ayodhya can be visited year-round, but the climate and festivals make certain months especially rewarding for pilgrims and tourists.
An absolutely divine experience. Kashiaagman.com arranged everything perfectly - from the hotel near the temple to the early-morning darshan slot. The evening Saryu aarti was the most peaceful moment of my life.
We visited right after the Ram Mandir consecration. The crowd management was excellent and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of each temple.
